For this major K-12 school system, Parsons Brinckerhoff performed a comprehensive $300 million program management assignment with activities that extended across all phases of project development, namely: planning, design, bid/award, construction and closeout. During a period of 5 years, Parsons Brinckerhoff developed project scope, budget and schedule for 82 school projects. The firm also managed design and construction efforts for an additional 30 school projects involving additions, renovations, repairs and upgrades. During these efforts, the Parsons Brinckerhoff team generated scoping documents covering the written scope of work, rough order-of-magnitude estimates, and process schedules used for design services.
Other assignments included providing project management services to oversee planning, design, and construction activities for an additional 30 school maintenance projects and 11 renovation/repair/upgrade (non-capacity) projects. Parsons Brinckerhoff also contributed to the Districtwide Modular Program, providing supervisory and administrative support services for several projects in the closeout phase, as well as three major projects under construction.
As an extension of client staff, two Parsons Brinckerhoff project managers were housed within the MDCPS Capital Construction offices and six other Parsons Brinckerhoff team members were assigned to assist the District in coordinating activities to receive and set up school furnishings.
