Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center
Anaheim, California, United States
Client: City of Anaheim/Orange County Transportation Authority
Parsons Brinckerhoff Role: Master Planning/Architectural/Engineering
The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is envisioned as an iconic gateway for Southern California and the linchpin of a mixed-use activity center including commercial and residential development. Parsons Brinckerhoff is providing the City of Anaheim with master planning, architectural, and engineering services for the transportation center, which is situated at the juncture of major freeways and between a major stadium and a sports and entertainment center.
The first phase of the project, valued at approximately $184 million, will consist of site work and preparation, a transportation center terminal and supporting facilities, trackwork and platforms, parking, public art, and access and street improvements. With an estimated construction value of $110 million, the transportation hub will accommodate Metrolink commuter rail, Amtrak, and Orange County Transportation Authority buses, and is being designed to accommodate the future needs of California High Speed Rail and California/Nevada Super Speed Train connections.
ARTIC will be designed to meet the goal of platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification of the U.S. Green Building Council. The landmark building will have an open feeling, skyline presence, and an impressive recognition factor.
The city expects to break ground by mid 2012, with an opening date of 2015.
