Client: Land Management Corporation
WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Role: Master Planning and Urban Design
The Bowden Urban Village master plan envisions the transformation of a 25-acre (10-hectare) former factory site and adjacent properties in Adelaide, South Australia into a new mixed-use community employing environmentally friendly development strategies. Parsons Brinckerhoff was a member of the team that prepared the plan for the Land Management Corporation, which acquired the underutilized site.
The largest planned transit oriented development (TOD) in southern Australia, the village will include public transit, 2,000 new apartments, and commercial and retail facilities. The team incorporated a variety of strategic planning, policy assessment, public involvement, environmental, and design services in preparing the plan.
The team’s goal is to integrate land use planning and transport planning, together with sustainable community development principles to create a visionary, commercially viable and livable community that has lasting value for South Australia.
