Parsons Brinckerhoff Role: project management services, mechanical and electrical design

Located in the heart of Luwan District, previously known as Avenue Joffre, the project involved the restoration and conservation of four pre-war buildings. Originally constructed in 1921, the buildings were comprehensively restored to provide a viable commercial reuse which will allow the building to be well-utilized and maintained in the future. The 43,000-square-foot (4,000-square-meter) converted terrace has been renovated to house a boutique for high-end retail, namely, Vacheron Constantin and Alfred Dunhill, as well as the ShanghART Gallery and Hong Kong's famous KEE Club. The restoration combines the luxury shopping experience with art, taste and refinement, all incorporating without diminishing the culture and history of the building. From the 1960s staircase to the stained-glass windows, it evokes a past generation with the new—creating an experience in indulgence, offering much more than simple retail.

Parsons Brinckerhoff provided project management services for the restoration works in addition to serving as the mechanical and electrical design consultant. In 2009, the project received an Award of Merit for Cultural Heritage Conservation from UNESCO Asia-Pacific.
