Figure 2: Styles Formatting

When you bring text into your fresh, new report template using Paste Special ... Unformatted Text ... bullets almost invariably come across as squiggly lines or are decidedly odd looking (Figure 1).
There is an easy way to delete a series of bullets (any text for that matter) without having to do it individually. Simply click at point 1 and Alt-drag to point 2 (see Figure 1). This creates the usual black selection area but you'll notice a special difference. Press delete.
Style Magic
You are in a mad rush to ensure that your report's formatting is totally "by the book" when you notice that the project manager has edited the document and changed a style's attributes. The easiest way to quickly fix this for the whole document (assuming that the change made effects an entire style (think Heading 3, or Bullets, or Caption)), simply adjust the ruined formatting so that it's kosher, and then click Formatting, and then on the Styles and Formatting button. It's a button that looks like a double A in blue (see middle left of Figure 2, it's the button that is directly to the left of the style Normal), this brings up the "Formatting of selected text" pane. Right click on the style name you've made the adjustment to and then select Update to Match Selection.
Whilst probably this is not the best way of fixing a broken report, it will save you from gnashing your teeth and pulling your voodoo doll out of your top drawer . . .
