We invite all PB employees to participate in technology transfer and submit articles to PB Network . Your articles should provide an overview of a technical subject to appeal to a range of readers and to prompt them to contact you to explore ideas for related applications. The subject can be on anything technical, especially on our featured topics. (See In Future Issues.)
Please structure your article using the following guidelines:
Overview/Introduction. Why is this topic interesting?
Body of Text. Focus on technology transfer. For example:
- What technical developments are new and innovative?
- How did you go about solving a challenge on a project?
- Did computers or other technologies improve the product?
- What lessons did you learn on the project?
Papers written for other publications or conferences are acceptable, but the authors must adapt them to the purposes of PB Network . These articles must be updated, must clearly state what PB's activities were, and clearly focus on technology transfer.
Conclusion. Point out the article's relevance. For example:
- What does the technology or capability mean to PB?
- What impact does the technology have on the project?
- Was it completed on time or earlier, with lower cost?
- What is the status of the project?
TO SUBMIT. Send (or e-mail) article, graphics, and disk to the contact person na med or John Chow, New York, 1-212-465-5249, chow@pbworld.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
Guidelines for Graphics:
Send legible hard copy for all graphics. Be sure to include your name, title of your article, and PB Network issue # (The issue number is VERY important). You may send the graphics themselves in two ways.
Original Documents (the best way)
Please provide these documents for the graphic designer to scan, in black & white and/or in color, in one of the following forms:
- 35mm slides
- photos
- 35mm negatives
Why black and white?
PB Network is a black and white document.
Why color?
When PB Network goes on the web, we like to use the color images.
Why originals?
For printed artwork, please try to provide original as opposed to photocopied printed artwork to insure legibility. If you can only provide a photocopy, please make sure it is legible.
Electronic Files
Please provide electronic files:
- In the following formats ONLY (no other formats are acceptable): bitmap, tiff, eps, jpeg and psd.
- In a size measuring at least 7 inches wide
- With a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Artwork embedded in a document is only 72 dpi, which is not good enough for print. If all you have is a screen capture, you must send the original screen capture file along with your article. We can use embedded artwork only for positioning, not for printing.
Note about Screening: If any artwork contains a screen (percentage of color) or some intricate grid, please also submit a copy of the art without these and we will add them.
TO SUBMIT GRAPHICS. Send them with their hard copy to: Laurie Ludwin, PB Graphics Services, One Penn Plaza, New York, NY 10019. For answers to questions, call her at 1-212-465-5725 or e-mail her at ludwin@pbworld.com. |
