Project management from design to maintenance
|

PB and the City of Austin joined forces in a public/private arrangement called the New Airport Project Team. PB served as the project management support consultant responsible for:
- General design guidance
- Supporting construction management
- Administrative support
- Administering contracts
- Maintaining a comprehensive management information system, project controls, and documentation system
The completed facilities include:
- 52,000-square-meter (550,000-square-foot), 25-gate terminal
- Upgrades to the existing 3,735-meter (12,250-foot) runway
- New 2,750-meter (9,000-foot) runway and taxiway system
- New midfield cross-taxiway system
- New 3,300-space parking garage and at-grade parking for 7,000 vehicles
- New airport rescue and fire fighting facility
- 8 kilometers (5 miles) of new internal/access roadways
- New fuel farm
- New terminal apron
- New central heating and cooling facility
- New air cargo facility
- New general aviation facilities
