Cutting Costs while Maintaining Service

Even before construction began, PB assisted GM in saving $100 million in construction costs through a partnering approach and value engineering, along with incentives. Project changes—excluding those requested by GM—were kept to 2.6 percent.

Dave Skiven, Executive Director of GM's Worldwide Facilities Group, said, "GM has been pleased with the dedication, cooperation and support of Parsons Brinckerhoff in helping us to construct our new Vehicle Engineering Center, which will enable faster vehicle development throughout the company."

GM received numerous awards for the GM Vehicle Engineering Center, including the Construction Management Association of America's 2003 Project of the Year award in the category of private projects over $100 million and the Associated General Contractors of America's Build America award for 2003.
