March 2003
A new chapter in baseball

The first pitch on March 31, 2003 marked a new chapter in baseball’s history:  the major league baseball’s oldest team, the Cincinnati Reds, playing the inaugural game of the season in its brand-new home.

Hamilton County and the Cincinnati Reds turned to PB for the design and construction oversight of the $280 million Great American Ball Park. PB coordinated and oversaw all aspects of the ballpark design and construction process—and ensured that the project was in compliance with set scope, schedule and budget. This 42,053-seat arena was constructed alongside Cinergy Field, the team’s home until December 2002, when the field was imploded to make way for the soon-to-be-completed Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame.   PB is also completing oversight on $93 million of additional facilities.

The project was completed on time and within budget. “PB pulled out all the stops to prepare the ballpark for its debut,” said Mike Sieving, the Construction Project Executive for Hamilton County.
