Leading the Way

PB has been involved in the MARTA rapid transit system since the establishment of a joint venture in 1966. The firm has provided assistance to MARTA in the planning, design, project management and construction management of its heavy rail system and bus systems. These services have included:
Project and program management;
Planning assistance;
Design of systemwide features, specific
stations and line sections;
Quality control;
Procurement management;
Construction management;
Testing and start-up support;
Infrastructure rehabilitation and renovation - including security enhancement; and
Capital improvement program development.
PB has also provided engineering and contract procurement support during the procurement, installation, testing and start-up of MARTA's Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), which comprises automated vehicle locator and passenger information systems. PB has worked with MARTA is making it a modern, technology-based system and organization.
Well-executed planning, a sound design, an emphasis on schedules and cost control, and maximum use of work-around techniques to reduce schedule and cost impacts have enabled most of MARTA's design and construction to be completed on schedule and within approved budget.
