An assignment in transition

With the Third Lane Locks proposal adopted by the Board—and prior to its ratification by Panama’s citizens—the PB team is in the process of completing all bid documents related to the project in anticipation of a bid release date early in 2007, assuming passage of the referendum. Over the next year, PB will transition to a more traditional program management role: delivering the approved program while monitoring financing constraints and requirements.

Laurie Mahon, who has served as PB Project Director since the assignment’s inception, says, “The PB team is considered by our client to be an essential part of the development and delivery of the project. We work with our counterparts at the ACP in a fully integrated team, sharing offices and resources without boundaries.  It has been an exceptional experience for all of us.”

To date, more than 40 PB professionals from all over the world have worked on the project.  Bruce Johinke, Brenda Bohlke and Reece Shaw have all served as project managers, each taking up residence in Panama during their tenure.  For the coming year, Corina Briceno will be the senior staff person in the country.
