Staying on Schedule
|
The Shuweihat project had a challenging 31-month schedule to completion. The PB team assisted the Shuweihat CMS International Power Company (SCIPCO), the project developer, in achieving synchronization of the plant's first gas turbine just 16 months after the start of permanent works―two months ahead of schedule.
One of the project's key challenges arose after 18 months of construction, when there was a 118-day delay in a critical power line connection that was outside the scope of the SIWPP. Working closely with SCIPCO, PB participated in negotiating new guaranteed completion dates and a revised commissioning schedule that resulted in plant completion only 79 days later than scheduled.
Dave Price, Executive Managing Director of SCIPCO, said, "Although the plant faced several serious delays and other challenges during its implementation, it was completed close to the original contract schedule. SCIPCO believes that this is due in part to the timely and diligent design reviews and field inspections completed by PB Power."
