In addition to its ongoing work on security-related projects,
PB is developing internal security initiatives that will enhance
the firm's capabilities in specific areas of security engineering.
PB has formed alliances with both Science Applications International
Corporation (SAIC) and Weidlinger Associates, pooling skills
and experience in various aspects of security engineering.
Often recognized for its Homeland Security Readiness and
Response Division, SAIC has a comprehensive history of work
on national security programs. Projects taken on by the PB/SAIC
alliance are a result of PB's program management and transportation
infrastructure expertise and SAIC's security record.
In October 2001, PB formed an agreement with blast engineering
expert Weidlinger to jointly market and perform the analysis
and design of various facilities in relation to threat mitigation.
Weidlinger's experimental, analytical and computational studies
make it an international leader in understanding structural
response to explosions. The combination of Weidlinger's expertise
and PB's U.S. federal and state level infrastructure experience
make this team an invaluable provider of large-scale blast
analyses, structural upgrades and modifications, for such
clients as departments of transportation, local and state
transit agencies, municipalities, power facilities and airports.
